Local People Helping Local People

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of Phillip R. Short.  The Short and Rowe families have been serving the Marlborough and surrounding communities for generations and will continue to do so for generations to come.

- John P. Rowe, III

The Short and Rowe family have been serving the families of all faiths in Marlborough and surrounding cities and towns for over 100 years. Our funeral home is conveniently located just west of downtown Marlborough, with ample on street parking, handicap accessibility and updated facilities. It offers all the amenities to ensure a professional and comfortable service. As we have done for generations, we will work closely with you and your family to deliver a warm and personal service, within your budget and respectful of your unique needs.

Our families have been serving the Marlborough community for four generations. We are known for our commitment to the community through active involvement in local organizations. We take pride in caring for our families during their time of need and continued support for years to come. We are known for our compassionate approach of “local people helping local people”, a philosophy that has served the community well and gives us a unique understanding of what is most important. A philosophy of care, compassion and professionalism.

In 2019, the Short family purchased John P. Rowe Funeral Home, Inc., a family- owned and operated business since 1921. William Short and John Rowe, Sr. started their respective funeral homes and set a high standard for their children to live and work up to. We work every day to live up to those standards. We wanted our families and friends to know that Short & Rowe Funeral Home will continue to meet their needs with high quality service.

At the Short and Rowe Funeral Home, we have always taken our motto of "Local People Helping Local People" to heart. For the past 3 decades, our family has been standing with your families when you have experienced the loss of a loved one. We are deeply saddened to inform you of the death of Phillip R. Short.  Phil cared a great deal about the families that we serve and considered their care at a time of loss to be his greatest responsibility. Part of this responsibility was to ensure that his legacy as the founder of the Short and Rowe Funeral Home would continue in the event of his death, so that the needs of the families that rely on our family would be met for years to come.

The Short and Rowe families are here to serve your family, and we will continue to treat the opportunity to be of service to you as an honor and privilege.  John P. Rowe III is a third-generation funeral director who has been working with his father for over 20 years, striving to provide services that are unmatched in the community.   John will continue to serve the families of Short and Rowe Funeral Home.
