Hudson
James F. “Jim” Berry, 88, died Thursday March 15 after a long period of failing health. He was the husband of Lorraine L. (Goguen) Berry to whom he was married for 63 years. He was born in Pontiac MI, the son of the late Claude and Florence (Outen) Berry and moved to Hudson in 1962.
Mr. Berry was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in the Korean Conflict. He then worked many years in advertising sales for The Beacon, the weekly newspaper in Acton and the former Marlborough Enterprise Sun Newspaper. He was also the founder of the Marlborough City Post.
Jim donated his time to many local organizations including the Marlborough Rotary Club, the Hudson Elks, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Marlborough , worked on the annual Marlborough Evening of Giving for many years and countless other people and organizations in need.
Besides his wife he is survived by three sons; Michael J. Berry of Acton, Robert D. Berry of Fla., Joseph A. Berry of Hudson, two daughters; Barbara J Scalera of NJ, Elizabeth A. Jewett of Hudson, twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2-5 pm in the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com) 95 West Main St. Marlborough.
