Pamela "Pam" Hurley Obituary

Berlin – Pamela “Pam” Ann Hurley, 70 of Berlin, MA died peacefully at home on Friday April 30, 2021 surrounded by loving family and friends.

Pam was born in Marlborough the daughter of the late Thomas and Ruth (Cook) Hurley. She graduated from St Ann’s Academy in Marlborough and earned her Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Assumption College.

She is survived by her wife of 28 years, Claudia Dent of Berlin, her sidekick Bess, the multi-cultural wonder dog; best friend Dean Lipka of Wells ME; her niece, Jennifer McPartlen of  Hudson, great nephew, Dillon McPartlen of Hudson, great great niece Ivy and her great great nephew MJ and her brother-in-law Nick Hawkins of Hudson.

She was predeceased by her sister Deb Hawkins in 2013.

Pam was kind and compassionate with a quick wit that cultivated people’s trust. She found her life’s work as a Rehabilitation Counselor working with people in recovery from substance abuse. One of the highlights of Pam’s career was her position as Director of Faith House in Worcester. There are many who say the work they did with Pam saved their lives.

Growing up on a horse farm, Pam loved animals and nature throughout her entire life. She was passionate about her home decor and landscape, leaving beautiful flower gardens as a legacy.  Pam loved staying at her home away from home in Truro, MA., spending time at the beach, whale watching, bird watching, and ending the day with a shared meal and a perfect sunset.

Pam enjoyed driving sports cars and was often spotted driving around town in her Miata with the top down, her sidekick Bess in the passenger seat.

Most of all, Pam loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved her nieces and nephew, generously picking out a continuous flow of clothes and toys.  As a spouse she filled our home with beauty, love and laughter. With a twinkle in her eye, a beautiful smile and a heart as big as the ocean, you could always count on Pam for practical advice, support and love. She leaves us with a model of how to be kind to one another through life’s journey.
