George Harakles

George C. Harakles, 77, died Thursday March 11, 2021 after a period of failing health.  He was the husband of the late Annmarie (Doucette) Harakles who died in 2013.  They were happily married for 25 years and their love only grew with time. He was the son of the late Katherine Harakles , was born in Marlborough and lived here all his life. 

     George was a United States Army veteran, proudly serving in the Vietnam War.  He was a longtime member of the AMVETS Post 1980 of Marlborough, the Akroyd Houde Post 132 American Legion Marlborough and the Marlborough Italian American War Veterans Club.

     George worked as the head of shipping and receiving for Butchers Wax in Marlborough for many years. He retired in 1998 and then spent the rest of his life as a dedicated husband and father. 

     He is survived by two sons; Joseph Harakles of Boxborough, Scott Harakles of ME, two daughters; Cassandra Harakles of Sudbury and Ariana Harakles of Springfield,  and his eight beloved grandchildren; Madison, Lila, Chase, Laura, Avianna, Dane, Wyatt and Kayden.

     His funeral will be held on Friday March 19, 2021 at 10:00 a.m  in Saints Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church, 9 Central St. Marlborough.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Short & Rowe Funeral Home (www.shortandrowefuneralhome.com), 95 West Main St. Marlborough.
