Eileen Weaver Obituary

The one and only, Eileen Francis Naughton Weaver, 77, passed away peacefully at her home in Marlborough, on Monday, March 1, 2021, after a courageous fight with an extremely lengthy illness. Eileen faced her challenges with the same grace and grit she exhibited throughout her life. She is survived by her husband, Alfred Weaver, to whom she was married for 52 years, her two daughters, Karen Weaver, of Marlborough, Liz O’Keefe and her husband Chris, of Rockville Centre, NY, son, David Weaver, of Marlborough, brother, John Naughton of Boston, two granddaughters, Margaret and Abigail, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Eileen is predeceased by her parents, Michael Joseph and Margaret Mary (Rogers) Naughton, three sisters, Patricia Raymond, of Maine, Margaret Lyons, of Marlborough, Mary Hurley, of Dorchester, and two brothers, Joseph Naughton, of Virginia, Robert Naughton, of Tewksbury. She also leaves behind many treasured friendships.

Eileen was a proud graduate of Boston State College in 1966, and went on to teach at the Mather (elementary) School in Dorchester for four years, until deciding to be a stay-at-home mom. She may have stepped out of the classroom, but she remained a teacher, sharing her wisdom and her infamous wit with her children throughout the course of her life. Eileen became a Marlborough girl in 1971, and spent as much time on Cape Cod as possible. The beach was her happy place, and she was the happy place for those who loved her most. Eileen was the brightest light in every room, and will be missed every day.

Eileen’s family is eternally grateful to Faith and Family Hospice, the Visiting Angels, and to all the aides and medical staff who cared for her during the course of her illness, especially those present during this global pandemic. Their steadfastness was a testament to their devotion. Gratitude is also given to Dr. Andrew Villanueva at Lahey Hospital, Burlington, who treated Eileen for more than 30 years. He was more than her pulmonologist, he was her advocate and friend.

Eileen's  funeral was postponed due to Covid and fortunately they are now able to celebrate Eileen's life with a funeral mass. It will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mathias Church

409 Hemenway St, Marlborough, MA 01752.  Donations can made to the American Foundation for the Blind (www.afb.org), and to the NTM info and research foundation for pulmonary disease (www.ntminfo.org).
