Welcome to the memorial page for

Sharon Fogge Swanson

October 11, 2017

MARLBOROUGH - Sharon A. Fogge-Swanson, 60, of Marlborough, passed away in the company of family and friends on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the Brigham and Woman's Hospital after a yearlong battle with cancer.  She is the beloved wife of 27 years to Joel D. Swanson.
Born in Lodi, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Gayle (Paige) Fogge.
After obtaining her Bachelor's degree in social work at Fairleigh Dickinson University, NJ, Sharon moved to Boston where she established herself as a clinician and therapist specializing in at-risk adolescent girls. Sharon believed in everyone's potential and had a unique perspective of how every day kindness could change a life. Sharon would later go on to pursue a Master's degree in social work at Boston University and then entered the next stage of her career as a trainer to medical staffs in extending treatment to addicted pregnant women.
Sharon centered her world around family and friends. With each holiday or gathering there was another opportunity to share a recipe, a happy story, or a clever joke. Sharon had a special affection for her close-knit group of friends, the "Girl Scout Moms". A relationship built on years of mother/daughter bonds of love and laughter, Sharon shared with these moms the joy of watching their girls grow into remarkable young women. Sharon felt truly blessed to be connected to these wonderful families.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Alexandra and Benjamin Swanson, both of Marlborough; her brother, Francis Fogge of Florida; her sisters, Judith Fogge of Roslindale and Teryle Fogge of Maryland; and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 21, at 9:00 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 20, from 4 to 8 P.M. in the William R. Short & Son Funeral Home, 95 West Main St., Marlborough. At 6 P.M., family and friends will be given an opportunity to say a few words in remembrance of Sharon.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Sharon’s memory may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via www.dana-farber.org/gift to support cancer research and patient care.
