Richard J. Simoneau, 80, died Friday morning December 14, 2018 after a short illness. He was the husband of Cheryl (Albano) Simoneau to whom he was married for 32 years. He was born in Marlborough, the son of the late Elmer and Elsie (Turcotte) Simoneau, and lived here all of his life.
Mr. Simoneau was a United States Coast Guard veteran of the Vietnam War. As an avid outdoorsman, he was a long time member of the Marlborough Fish & Game. He was also a member of Amvets Post 1980 of Marlborough, and the Ashland VFW Auxiliary. Mr. Simoneau worked for General Motors in Framingham for many years before retiring in 1990. He also worked for the Marlborough Post Office for almost two decades.
Besides his wife he is survived by three sons; Christopher Simoneau and his wife Danielle of Hudson; Robert Simoneau of Salisbury, Peter Simoneau of Northborough; two daughters- Michelle Simoneau of Sudbury, Joanne Souza and her husband John of Maynard; ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday December 18 at 10:00 a.m. at the Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Bourne MA. Visiting hours will be held on Monday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com), 95 West Main St. Marlborough.
