Marcella (LeSieur) Hamel

Marcella Hamel (LeSieur), age 95, of Park Ridge NJ died on Monday May 28, 2018.

Born in Marlborough MA, and married to Roland Hamel for 51 years, lived in Danbury ,CT, and Brentwood ,NY ,where she raised her three children.  She retired to Florida in 1977 and lived there with her husband until his passing in 1995.  She moved to back north to live near her daughter and family that same year.

During her years in Florida, she was a member of the Central Florida Square and Round Dance Association.  She and her husband were awarded the Square Dance Couple of the Year in 1986 and elected to the Florida Square Dance Hall of Fame.  She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Council 6584 in Deltona Florida.

While living in New Jersey, she was a member of Saint Mary’s RC Church in Dumont, St. Mary’s Women’s Club and Dumont Senior Center.

She was the loving mother of Donna (Melvyn) Sack of Tenafly, NJ, Roland (Karen) of St. Petersburg, Fla., and James of Maui, HI,.   She was the grand mother of Danielle (David), Matthew (Caressa), Rhiannon and Gabrielle; great grandmother of Audrey, Ian, Macy and Miles.

Viewing will be on Monday June 4, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. prior to a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass at St. Matthias Church in Marlborough.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Marlborough.
