John A. Moore, 94, of Marlborough, MA and Lehigh FL, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017, into the next dimension on a warm and sun shining day. He was the husband of Dorothy Hall Moore, who left before - to set things up. Born in Lamar, Oklahoma in 1922, he was the son of the late John B. and Manuilla (Nichols) Moore.
John attended Winthrop Schools, Wentworth Institute of Technology, UMass, and had a short stay at Suffolk University. He worked for the State of Massachusetts in the Right of Way Department for 36 years. He volunteered to join the US Army in 1943 and served as a medic on Tinian Island, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, until he had enough and came home. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, and the State Retirement Union.
He is survived by his three children, Nancy, Jean and Jim. He is predeceased by two sons, John and Glenn; and three siblings, Billy, Ethel and Alice. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, May 10th at 12:00 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street Marlborough. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301,Cincinatti, OH, 45250or dav.org
