Ann M. Lalli

September 11, 1944 ~ May 1, 2017 (age 72) 72 Years Old

Ann M. Lalli, 72, died Monday May 1, 2017 after a long period of failing health.  She was born in Marlborough, the daughter of the late Michael and Louise (Marino) Lalli and lived here all of her life.
Ann was a graduate of the former St. Anne's academy in Marlborough and went on to Regis College where she recevied a B.A. in Sociology in 1966.  She later earned her M.S.W. at the University of Connecticut.  She became a LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker) and  "enjoyed a career as a social worker that taught her about hope and the power of human will."  She spend many years working with prisoners at the Concord Reformatory.  While small in stature, Ann was a tough but caring support to the men and boys at Concord.  Her friends report that her "heart was always with those behind the prison walls."   She guided them with strength and wonderful sense of humor.
Ann also spent much of her time volunteering at the former Lyman Reform School in Westborough.  Ann was also an avid reader and lover of music.  She loved animals especially her precious dogs whose ashes will also be laid to rest with her.
She is survived by a cousin, Joanne Haynes of Chesapeake VA and many dear friends.
Visiting hours for Ann will be held on Wednesday morning from 11:00a.m- 1:00 p.m. in the Willam R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com), 95 West Main St. Marlborough.  Burial will be private.
